Instructor and Student Advancement Through Certification

Career pathways are advanced for architecture, mechanical, civil and general design drafting through The CAD Academy Certification programs.

Professional certification can be found in almost every industry in the United States today. Law, construction, nursing, accounting, information technology and engineering just scratch the surface of the wide range of professions for which certification is important. For design students certification can be the difference between college admission or a waiting list; employment or no second interview. For design educators certification can be the key factor which enables promotion or job advancement. For K-12 academic programs certification can translate into additional funding and support. Certification is empowering.

The CAD Academy certification programs provide academic institutions with a proven methodology for effective measurement of program, instructor and student competencies not software certification. K-12 academic programs, instructors and students are able to authenticate competencies of design drafting for the areas of architecture, mechanical, civil as well as general drafting and design.

The Curriculum Certification Process established by the ADDA is the only design drafting and graphic program certification which meets the industry certification requirements of federally funded programs such as Perkins or No-Child Left Behind. The criteria for industry certification organizations are straightforward and indisputably dictated within the federal and state documentation for the proper use of the funding dollars.

The CAD Academy prepares students, instructors and ultimately academic programs for American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) Certification. ADDA Certification program gives students the opportunity to validate their knowledge and skills, helping accelerate their entry into the design industry. The ADDA is recognized as the premier design drafting certification program by many organization including: U.S. Department of Labor; U.S. Department of Education; and ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers. It is supported by major U.S. Industries and governmental groups including: Boeing Corporation; NASA and U.S. Corp of Engineers.

The CAD Academy program includes the ADDA Certification Test Guides for academic program mapping and instructor preparation. The CAD Academy curriculum is approved by the ADDA. Schools who adopt The CAD Academy are eligible to receive the three day - Getting Started with The CAD Academy - instructor development training which advances instructors toward ADDA certification. Through the ADDA it is also possible to certify the school, instructor and student. Instructor or Academic Program Certification by the ADDA would enable the school or instructor to proctor student certification exams. The ADDA tests for knowledge of general design drafting, architecture, civil and mechanical and has certification tests on all four professions, not on their knowledge of particular software. Many states including: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mass., Michigan, New Jersey, Tennessee and Virginia have adopted the ADDA Certification as the state certification standard for K-12 education.
